Canada’s women’s basketball team concluded the preliminary stage of the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament with a 70-64 victory against Mexico, who hosted the game in Guadalajara on Thursday night. Yvonne Ejim led Canada with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 17 points. Mariana Valenzuela scored 17 points for Mexico.
Canada, now boasting a 3-0 record, is set to face New Zealand in the semifinals on Saturday, while the host team will compete against Brazil. The tournament’s ultimate winner will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments scheduled for February 2028.
