It’s advisable for those with plans for the long weekend to take note of any changes in store opening hours. Here is a breakdown of the opening and closing times of popular supermarkets for this bank holiday Monday.

Sainsbury’s larger stores in England and Wales typically open between 7am and 8am and close around 10pm to 11pm from Monday to Saturday, with shorter Sunday hours of 10am to 4pm. In Scotland, Sainsbury’s stores have longer Sunday hours due to differing trading laws. For the bank holiday Monday, Sainsbury’s larger stores plan to open between 7am and 8am and close at 8pm, while Scottish stores will maintain their regular hours.

Most larger Morrisons stores in England and Wales usually operate from 6 or 7am to 10pm from Monday to Saturday, with Sunday hours of 10am to 4pm. However, on August 25, these stores will close two hours earlier at 8pm. Scottish stores will maintain their normal operating hours.

In England and Wales, most larger Asda stores will open from 8am until 10pm on the bank holiday, with some stores closing slightly earlier on Saturday night. Asda Express stores typically run around-the-clock daily, including Sundays and bank holidays.

Lidl branches’ opening and closing times may vary, with some opening at 8am and closing at 10pm. It is recommended that shoppers check their specific store hours on Lidl’s store locator before the holiday as they may differ by location.

Waitrose stores have varying opening hours, with some branches opening as early as 7am and others at 9am. Most stores will operate as usual before the bank holiday, with shorter hours of 10am to 4pm on Monday. Little Waitrose convenience stores may have slightly different closing times on the holiday.

M&S adjusts its opening hours for bank holidays, with most chain stores opening at 8:30am and closing at 6pm. Shoppers can check their local store hours on the M&S store finder.
