Joey Essex Triumphs in Influencer Boxing Debut

Date:

Joey Essex emerged victorious in his first boxing match against influencer Numeiro after a tough battle in the ring. Trained by his uncle Tony, who previously mentored Anthony Joshua, Essex gained fame from his appearances on “The Only Way Is Essex” and “Love Island.” His long-standing desire to compete in the influencer boxing promotion Misfits finally came to fruition.

Entering the ring in Manchester with a singer and two violinists, Essex initially struggled in the first round but managed to land a significant right on Numeiro’s jaw. Despite this, Essex missed the opportunity to capitalize on his success, allowing his opponent to recover. Both fighters aggressively engaged in the second round, with Essex landing more hits, energizing the crowd. However, Numeiro finished the round stronger, raising concerns that Essex had exhausted himself.

The intensity escalated in the third round, captivating the audience, including former world champion Tony Bellew. Numeiro received a standing count, indicating he needed a knockout to win, while Essex displayed impressive endurance. The final round started with Numeiro staging a potential comeback, leading to both fighters exhibiting resilience and exchanging blows at the center of the ring.

The fight went the full distance, and after deliberation, two out of the three judges declared Essex the winner. Overwhelmed with joy, Essex collapsed in celebration, contrasting Numeiro’s disappointment. Earlier in the event, Demi Sims, Essex’s cousin and former TOWIE co-star, secured victory in her debut fight, while other fighters on the card, including Amir Anderson and Carla Jade, also had successful performances.

Additionally, Rahim Pardesi settled a heated feud with Amadeusz Ferrari, ending the match with a decisive right hand. Chase DeMoor retained his heavyweight title in a peculiar stoppage against Natan Marcon, who had instigated a confrontation by throwing an egg at DeMoor during the week. Despite Marcon’s objections, the fight was called off by the referee due to a powerful uppercut from DeMoor. Tyson Fury’s ex-sparring partner, Ty Mitchell, achieved a significant win over Sean Hemphill, advancing his career record to 4-2.

Overall, the event showcased thrilling matchups and notable victories, cementing the fighters’ positions in the competitive boxing landscape.
