CBC has secured a significant presence in Canadian curling through a newly inked five-year broadcast deal that will expand coverage of the Grand Slam of Curling playoffs and all Rock League matches on its platforms. The agreement with The Curling Group, unveiled on Thursday, will result in over 300 hours of combined TV coverage on CBC and Sportsnet for the 2026-27 season.
A notable development for CBC is its involvement with Rock League. The professional league, which debuted in April, is set to return to CBC in January 2027. Every match will be accessible on CBC television and CBC Gem, while selected games will also be broadcast on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays.
Featuring six mixed-gender franchises with curlers from various countries, the upcoming second season of Rock League will host events on specific weekends in January and April, with matches scheduled from Thursday to Sunday.
In addition to Rock League, CBC will play a more prominent role in the Grand Slam of Curling. Sportsnet remains the primary broadcaster for all five Grand Slam events, commencing in October. The network will air three draws daily from Tuesday to Friday. On Saturdays, CBC and CBC Gem will join Sportsnet+ for the playoff coverage. The championship finals on Sundays will be shown on Sportsnet, while CBC will also broadcast selected finals during the season. Morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will continue to be live-streamed on Rock Channel.
This new deal reinforces CBC’s extensive history with curling and enhances its presence during major Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed enthusiasm about sharing another season of Rock League with audiences nationwide.
