In another game against Brazil, the Canadian women dominated with a 36-6 win, securing a 20-0 lead by halftime. The Canadian men’s team also had a strong start, defeating Austria with a score of 26-6. Besides aiming for the world title, both Canadian teams are vying for a chance to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. The top two teams at the world championships will secure spots in the Olympics, marking the sport’s debut in the program.
Both Canadian teams will conclude the group stage on Friday with matches against Japan. The men will play at 2 a.m. ET, while the women will compete at 4:30 a.m. ET. Viewers can watch all matches live on CBCSports.ca and CBC Gem. Additionally, the Canadian men’s team will receive an automatic win against Nigeria, as the Nigerian team withdrew from the tournament due to visa issues.
