“Employee’s Spooderman Poster for Spider-Man Film Goes Viral”

Date:

In Prince George, B.C., the Famous Players Six theatre faced a situation where they did not receive the promotional posters for the movie “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” To address this issue, employee and artist Drake Landon took matters into his own hands.

Due to a shipping error, the theatre never received the official posters for the latest Spider-Man release. In response, Landon was tasked by his manager to create a replacement poster in the style of the popular internet meme, Spooderman.

Spooderman is known for its simplistic, MS Paint parody of Marvel’s Spider-Man, originating around 2012. Despite being capable of drawing the actual Spider-Man, Landon opted to draw Spooderman to match the character’s “Brand New Day” design.

Accompanying his hand-drawn poster, Landon added a brief message apologizing for the absence of the official posters and any resulting inconveniences.

The impromptu Spooderman poster caught the attention of movie-goer Adam Woodrow, who appreciated the creative solution. Woodrow’s son Rogan took a photo of Landon next to his artwork, sharing it on local community platforms.

The online buzz surrounding Landon’s Spooderman creation grew rapidly, amassing thousands of likes and shares across various platforms, including the Marvel Studios subreddit with over 54,000 upvotes.

While suggestions poured in for Landon to draw more posters or sell his Spooderman artwork, he expressed a preference for drawing robots, intricate machines, and weapons during his free time.

Landon, humbled by the recognition, attributed the success of his drawing to the original idea behind Spooderman, acknowledging the meme’s creator from years ago.

Proud of his son’s creativity, Craig Landon expressed joy over the positive feedback Drake received, highlighting his years of dedication to drawing.

Despite the temporary nature of Landon’s poster, Cineplex announced plans to replace it with the official “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” poster while finding a new display spot for the hand-drawn rendition within the theatre.

Looking ahead, Landon expressed his desire to produce prints of his now-famous poster, aiming to immortalize his creative contribution.
