Sky subscribers who enjoy binge-watching movies are in for a change this week. The broadcasting company has announced a revamp of its channel lineup by merging Sky Cinema Animation (channel 312) with Sky Cinema Family, effective April 30.
The consolidation aims to streamline the service, offering a single destination for family-friendly films on channel 304. Viewers can look forward to a variety of titles like the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, Smurfs, How to Train Your Dragon, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Wicked all in one place following the switch.
While the standalone Sky Cinema Animation channel is being discontinued, it will make temporary comebacks during school holidays to entertain kids. Sky has confirmed availability from July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5 for this purpose.
In addition to these channel changes, Sky has ventured into the home security market with the introduction of new smart devices. Customers can now subscribe to a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month plus a £15 upfront fee. This system offers features like full HD video recording, instant mobile alerts, customisable activity zones, two-way audio, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking more advanced functionalities, Sky is providing a Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ for £8 per month and a £20 upfront cost. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app controls, such as scheduled arming and automatic device modes.
