A tragic incident occurred as a five-year-old child lost his life when his uncle attempted to bypass a train barricade, resulting in a collision between the train and their car. The crash threw the vehicle, carrying Fabian Riojas, 24, and Emilio Martinez, five, 300 yards down the road in Texas on November 19.
Riojas was hospitalized, while the young child succumbed to his injuries. Official reports indicate that Riojas has been charged with vehicular manslaughter. Emilio’s father expressed his grief, stating that his brother’s intention was to outpace the train, but unfortunately, the train prevailed.
Despite the heartbreaking loss, Emilio’s father has appealed for the charges against his brother to be dropped, emphasizing his forgiveness towards him. A safety official labeled the incident as “preventable,” emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety measures at train crossings. The official advised caution when approaching railroad crossings, urging patience and adherence to safety protocols to prevent such tragic incidents.
