WhatsApp Launches Dedicated App for Apple Watch: Enhanced Messaging Experience

Date:

WhatsApp users can now enjoy a significant enhancement as the Meta-owned chat platform has officially launched a dedicated app for the Apple Watch. This new app will streamline messaging tasks, allowing users to send messages and respond to friends directly from their wrist without needing to reach for their smartphones.

Although WhatsApp notifications have been available on the Apple Watch for some time, the functionality was limited, showing only a snippet of messages. With the latest update, users can now access full messages, reply with emojis, and even send voice memos, mirroring the experience on other devices like smartphones and tablets.

The update promises a “new experience” enabling users to manage chats seamlessly without the need to use their iPhones directly. Notable features of the new WhatsApp app for Apple Watch include call notifications, the ability to read full messages, send voice messages, react with emojis, view clear images and stickers, access chat history, and maintain privacy with end-to-end encryption.

WhatsApp mentions that this is just the beginning of improving the Apple Watch experience and hints at more functionalities in the future. However, it is important to note that the new WhatsApp Apple Watch app requires an Apple Watch Series 4 or later, running watchOS 10 or later.

While the app is yet to be available, a release is expected in the coming days, as per Mirror Online’s recent check.
