A tragic incident unfolded at a motel in downtown Dallas where a man was brutally killed and decapitated following a dispute reportedly triggered by a malfunctioning washing machine, as per law enforcement officials. The suspect, identified as Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, 37, allegedly attacked the victim multiple times with a bladed weapon, leading to the victim’s death. The authorities responded to the distressing scene on Wednesday morning, finding the suspect covered in blood and wielding a machete, with the victim’s head discovered in a bin.
Emergency services rushed to the location, where the victim, Chandra Nagamallaiah, aged 50, was pronounced dead. Cobos-Martinez was apprehended and charged with capital murder in connection with the heinous crime that occurred at Downtown Suites Dallas on Samuell Blvd, Texas.
According to reports, Cobos-Martinez confessed to using the machete in the attack, citing an argument that erupted over the broken washing machine. Witnesses stated that the suspect, who was cleaning a room with a colleague, became agitated when the victim communicated through the colleague instead of directly with him regarding the washing machine issue.
The arrest affidavit revealed that surveillance footage captured the suspect retrieving a machete from his person and assaulting the victim before witnesses intervened. One witness recounted the victim’s desperate attempts to seek help and protect his family before succumbing to the attacker’s violence.
Upon his arrest, Cobos-Martinez was found in possession of the murder weapon, the victim’s belongings, and has been associated with criminal activities in multiple states. He is currently facing capital murder charges and is detained at the Dallas County Jail. The motel staff expressed shock and grief over the tragic loss of Mr. Nagamallaiah, describing him as a dedicated and diligent individual who managed the property for several years.
