“Vicky Pattison Opens Up About Past Financial Struggles”

Date:

Vicky Pattison, known for her appearances on Strictly Come Dancing and Geordie Shore, recently shared a glimpse into her past struggles before achieving fame. Pattison, 37, opened up about her financial difficulties during her time as a student in Liverpool. She admitted to resorting to taking toilet rolls from bars due to financial constraints, reflecting on the challenging period. Pattison recalled living above a bar, where she would purchase a burger and a beer for five pounds but would also take toilet tissue from the restroom due to her financial struggles.

She expressed, “All of that university life thing is amazing, but it is hard, too. I have memories of stealing toilet rolls from bars because I’d run out of money to buy my own. I used to live above a bar, and come the end of the week, I’d go there to buy a burger and a beer for a fiver (which apparently I did have money for) and go into the loo and steal the toilet tissue.

“And when you’ve done that for three years, it starts to take its toll on your soul.

Following her challenging period in Liverpool, Pattison returned to her hometown of Newcastle, feeling naïve, financially strained, and uncertain about her future. She moved back in with her family and found employment at a jeans shop called G-Star to rebuild her life.

Reflecting on her journey, she shared, “I remember thinking, I’m just coming home for a few months. I’ll save up enough money, and then I’ll move to London.”

In preparation for her upcoming appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, Pattison expressed her concerns about being accepted by all members of the audience. She shared her worries about changing the opinions of those who judge her based on her past TV roles and the pressure to prove herself in a new light.

Speaking on her podcast with co-host Angela Scanlon, Pattison emotionally admitted, “All this can’t go on. I feel like I’ve just been walking around in this haze for so long pretending to be happy and all the rest of it, and I’m not. I wanna prove to people that I can do it.”

With the live broadcast of the BBC ballroom show approaching, Pattison revealed she sought therapy sessions with This Morning’s resident counsellors, the Speakmans, to address her fears and challenges.
