Ukraine’s specialized military unit, known as the “Deep Strike,” has carried out a significant attack on one of Russia’s major oil refineries, delivering a blow to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s financial resources. The operation targeted the Volgograd Oil Refinery, a key energy facility operated by Lukoil, causing substantial damage and financial losses. This strike is part of ongoing efforts by Kyiv’s special forces to disrupt Putin’s ability to sustain the conflict in Ukraine using revenues from oil exports.
The motto of the Deep Strike unit, “always beyond the line,” signifies their expertise in operating deep within enemy territories, facilitating precision airstrikes. In a separate incident, drones were deployed to attack the Kostroma GRES power plant in Volgorechensk, resulting in a massive fire and showcasing Ukraine’s strategic actions to weaken Russia’s war capabilities.
