“Trump Fumes Over BBC’s Manipulation Scandal”

Date:

Nigel Farage revealed that Donald Trump was extremely upset following the release of a leaked memo suggesting that a BBC program had manipulated footage of one of his speeches. Farage, the leader of Reform UK who advocates for abolishing the BBC, disclosed that he had a conversation with President Trump on Friday, noting that the President’s anger was beyond words.

Describing Trump as a staunch supporter, Farage stated that the US leader considered the allegations against him as the “last straw” and drew a parallel between the BBC’s actions and Russia’s interference in elections. In an interview with LBC radio, Farage recounted Trump’s reaction, emphasizing the President’s disbelief and anger towards the BBC.

Farage highlighted Trump’s outrage at the BBC’s actions, stating that Trump viewed the incident as a severe breach of trust, especially coming from a state broadcaster. He criticized the BBC for potentially meddling in a Presidential election, likening their actions to foreign interference in democratic processes.

Following the controversy, BBC director general Tim Davie and News chief executive Deborah Turness resigned from their positions amid criticism over a Panorama documentary that allegedly misrepresented Trump’s speech preceding the Capitol Hill riots in January 2021. The Telegraph published details suggesting that the BBC had edited Trump’s speech to imply support for the riots, sparking accusations of bias against the broadcaster.

The White House condemned the BBC for the misleading edit, labeling it as “100% fake news” and a “propaganda machine.” Trump celebrated the resignations of Davie and Turness, attributing their departure to the exposure of “corrupt journalists” by The Telegraph. Meanwhile, Turness defended the BBC, asserting that the organization is not institutionally biased and that the journalists are not corrupt.

In a statement shared on social media platform TruthSocial, Trump expressed gratitude to The Telegraph for uncovering the alleged doctoring of his speech and criticized the BBC for its actions. Turness reiterated the BBC’s commitment to impartiality and journalistic integrity, emphasizing that BBC News is a trusted news provider globally.
