Tragedy struck as a popular TikTok content creator with a massive following of over 800,000 fans met a fatal end just days after celebrating his wedding anniversary.
Michael Duarte, also known as FoodwithBearHands, was a talented chef whose social media profile highlighted his passion for ‘Cooking, Grilling, BBQ with my Bear Hands’.
The unfortunate incident occurred on a Saturday when Duarte, a father and renowned for his BBQ and grilling videos, was fatally shot by law enforcement officers who observed him behaving erratically with a knife. He succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
Duarte, survived by his wife Jessica Duarte and their 6-year-old daughter Oakley, had garnered immense popularity for his culinary content on social media.
In a heartwarming gesture, a GoFundMe campaign was initiated by Nena Petricca from El Cajon, California, raising over £65,000 to support Duarte’s grieving family.
The fundraising page conveyed the devastating news of Duarte’s untimely demise during his recent travels in Texas, just following his ninth wedding anniversary celebration.
While the world may recognize him as “FoodwithBearHands”, to his loved ones, he was a devoted husband, father, brother, and a cherished friend to many, as expressed on the GoFundMe page.
According to reports from TMZ, the Sheriff’s Office claimed that Duarte made threatening advances toward the officers, disregarding verbal commands to desist. Subsequently, he charged towards a deputy, shouting menacingly, “I’m going to kill you.”
Plans for Duarte’s funeral remain uncertain at this moment, as mentioned by Nena, the campaign organizer.
