A tragic incident occurred in Colombia where a young woman, Yudi Alexandra Castellanos Solano, lost her life after being swept away by a river during a tour on the final day of her vacation. Yudi, a 21-year-old aspiring architect, was enjoying a day out with her family and friends, exploring various waterfalls in the area with the guidance of a tour leader.
Unfortunately, the tour guide decided to turn back due to the challenging river conditions. As the group was heading back, Yudi accidentally fell into the river and was carried away by the strong currents. Following a thorough search operation, Yudi’s body was discovered approximately 2.5 miles downstream in the Güejar River within the Sierra de la Macarena National Park.
Her family expressed dissatisfaction with the search efforts, criticizing the lack of proper equipment and expertise among the first responders involved. The challenging terrain of the location where Yudi fell, known as Salto de Canoa, added complexity to the recovery operation.
