Tommy Fury stirred up controversy recently when a video surfaced showing him pushing another runner during the Great North Run last weekend. The 26-year-old boxer and reality TV personality, known for his unique running style, was seen forcefully moving a competitor out of his way near the end of the Newcastle-to-South Shields race. Fury gained initial attention for his strong finish at the Tatton 10km event earlier this year, where his powerful physique stood out.
After completing a challenging 100km triathlon along the French Riviera, Fury participated in the half marathon, finishing in 1:34:35. However, a short TikTok clip capturing him elbowing a fellow runner in the final moments has sparked widespread criticism.
Critics expressed their dismay over Fury’s actions, questioning why he felt the need to push others aside during the race. Some even suggested that such behavior should lead to disqualification. It was later revealed that the runner Fury pushed was participating on behalf of Muscular Dystrophy UK, further fueling the backlash.
Diarmaid Warner, a 38-year-old runner and plumber, shared his experience, stating that as he was nearing the race’s finish line, he felt a sudden push from behind, causing him to veer off course. Warner expressed disappointment in Fury’s lack of sportsmanship, highlighting that such actions go against race etiquette.
Warner later discovered that it was indeed Tommy Fury who had pushed past him. His mother took to social media to praise her son’s resilience, emphasizing that Warner finished ahead of Fury by a significant margin.
Despite the uproar, Fury has not publicly addressed the incident. The Mirror has reached out to his representatives for a statement.
