The latest TikTok sensation involves espresso lemonades, a surprising hit among social media users who hail it as the ultimate summer refresher. Despite typically sticking to regular iced lattes, with the occasional vanilla shot for a touch of sophistication, I decided to try this unconventional mix. Opting for a single shot of espresso from Starbucks and their ‘refreshing lemonade,’ I combined the two over ice, resulting in a drink resembling iced cold brew, albeit with a unique twist.
Not a standard Starbucks menu item, this concoction requires a bit of creativity to replicate. Upon my first sip, the tangy lemonade overpowered the espresso, leaving a sour taste, as expected given the lemonade’s inherent bitterness. Surprisingly, the tartness of the lemonade complemented the espresso’s bitterness, creating an unusual yet harmonious blend. While it may sound odd, trust me, it’s worth a try.
The coffee flavor emerges in the aftertaste, offering a surprisingly pleasant experience. While it may not replace my beloved iced latte anytime soon, I can appreciate why some may enjoy this thirst-quencher. Picture lounging under the sun on holiday—it could be the perfect companion.
