Tesco is set to distribute numerous free Christmas trees for a single day only. These trees, deemed “wonky,” would typically not be available for sale due to minor flaws like uneven branches or a slight lean. However, Tesco will be handing them out at no cost on Saturday, December 6, at selected stores, urging recipients to consider making a donation to the food charities Fareshare and Trussell.
The giveaway will take place at various Tesco locations, including Colney Hatch Extra, Borehamwood Extra, Hammersmith, Southport Extra, Goole Superstore, Glossop Superstore, Bristol Brislington Extra, Cardiff Extra, Dundee Riverside Extra, and Glasgow Maryhill Extra. Interested individuals can claim a tree starting at 10 am on a first-come, first-served basis, with each household limited to one tree. Comparable Christmas trees elsewhere are priced at £13.99 from Aldi and £14.99 from Home Bargains.
Ashwin Prasad, Tesco’s UK CEO, emphasized the joy in embracing imperfect moments during the holiday season, noting that despite their quirks, the wonky trees can bring charm to any home while supporting the food charity partners. A recent survey by Tesco revealed that a significant percentage of Brits prioritize the second weekend of December for decorating their Christmas trees. Most participants agreed that the essence of Christmas lies in imperfections, with imperfect moments defining the spirit of the season.
Furthermore, Tesco has introduced a promotion offering Clubcard members double points for every £1 spent on gift cards throughout December, applicable to all third-party gift cards purchased at Tesco stores. This promotion extends to all gift cards available at Tesco, not limited to Tesco gift cards, with double points automatically credited to Clubcard accounts.
With approximately 24 million Clubcard members, Tesco rewards points for various purchases, including groceries, fuel, Tesco Mobile, Tesco credit card transactions, and Tesco Clubcard Pay+ debit card usage. Members can redeem 150 points for a £1.50 Clubcard voucher to spend at Tesco, emphasizing the value of loyalty rewards.
