Two bodies, including that of a teenager, have been discovered by the roadside in connection with the murder of a mayor who was leading efforts against drug cartels. Shortly after, 17-year-old Miguel Angel Ubaldo Vidales, linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, was identified and killed by authorities, with an ongoing investigation into the incident.
The mayor had requested additional support from the central government in Mexico to combat drug-related crimes, while Ubaldo Vidales was found to have ties to the cartel. The shooter, who targeted the mayor with six gunshots, had been reported missing from his residence for about a week.
Governor Alfedo Ramirez Bedolla has confirmed that the two individuals found slain on the road from Uruapan to Paracho, near Capacuaro, were accomplices of the individual who murdered the mayor. Ramirez Bedolla stated that two others were involved in the assassination, and their bodies were discovered in Capácuaro.
