A teenage girl has gone missing from a quiet village in Devon after she was last spotted entering a vehicle on Halloween.
Authorities are appealing for witnesses to come forward as they express growing worry for Rosie, who vanished after getting into a Vauxhall Astra car five days ago. The teenager has connections to Taunton and Bridgwater and was last sighted in Holcombe Rogus, a rural village in Devon, shortly before 5pm. Avon and Somerset Police have initiated an urgent search for the missing schoolgirl and are asking anyone with information to reach out to them.
Rosie is described as a white female, approximately 5ft2 inches tall, with straight brown hair.
In a statement, Avon and Somerset Police stated: “Can you assist us in locating Rosie, 15, who was last observed entering a blue Vauxhall Astra in Holcombe Rogus at approximately 4.45pm on Friday, October 31st. We are increasingly concerned for her well-being. If you have any details on Rosie’s whereabouts, please dial 999 and reference number 5225308184.”
Concerned members of the public have expressed their apprehension for the 15-year-old, whose missing person appeal is circulating on local Facebook groups. One user expressed, “I hope she returns to her family safe and sound soon,” while another commented, “I pray she is located soon or seeks help at a police station.” Another plea read, “Please come home safely.”
Holcombe Rogus is recognized as a tranquil and rural community in Devon, boasting a close-knit population. Situated near the Somerset border in the Mid Devon council area, the village is in proximity to other parishes like Burlescombe and Hockworthy. The area is characterized by farmlands, the Grand Western Canal, and the Blackdown Hills.
The village is approximately a 35-minute drive from Taunton and about 50 minutes from Bridgwater, both areas where Rosie has known connections.
According to the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 503 residents.
