“Stellantis recalls 1.5M Ram 1500 trucks over seat belt issue”

Date:

Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced on Friday a global recall of over 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt problem. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured from 2019 to 2026 that may have a second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor that was not securely attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This issue could compromise the second-row seat belt system’s effectiveness, potentially increasing the risk of injury to occupants. While Stellantis is aware of one injury linked to the recall, there have been no reported fatalities associated with this problem.

The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 in other regions outside North America. Stellantis will be reaching out to affected vehicle owners to arrange for inspections at authorized dealerships. During the inspection, dealers will assess the attachment of the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchor and ensure proper attachment to the vehicle’s body if necessary.
