Sky has introduced two new smart home packages that feature internet-connected cameras and cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. The company claims that this pricing could result in savings of over £100 compared to purchasing a Ring system from Amazon.
The first option includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month plus a £15 upfront fee. This package offers features such as full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customisable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking additional security, there is the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ priced at £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app functionalities like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, expressed that the aim of Sky Smart Home is to make high-quality smart technology more accessible and user-friendly. The new plans are part of Sky’s initiative to make their home security devices more accessible as standalone services, expanding beyond their previous Protect Smart Home Insurance offerings.
In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, discounted by £20. Customers interested in cloud recording access would also need a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
