Sky has introduced a new feature called Device Priority for its internet users in the UK. This upgrade allows customers to control the speed allocation for each of their devices. For instance, users can prioritize their laptop for a crucial Zoom call while ensuring that other devices, like gaming consoles, receive sufficient bandwidth.
According to Sky, Device Priority optimizes WiFi performance for various devices such as wearable tech, home appliances, remote work, 4K streaming, and gaming. The prioritized device will receive the best performance while other devices remain active.
This enhancement is particularly beneficial as households are becoming increasingly interconnected with an average of 21 web-dependent gadgets per home, leading to network congestion. Device Priority creates a “fast lane” on the broadband, reducing conflicts and disagreements over internet usage.
The Device Priority feature is included in Sky’s WiFi Max service at no additional cost. Users can access this feature through the MySky App and prioritize a device for up to 8 hours. This addition complements other features of Sky Broadband’s WiFi Max service, including WiFi guarantee, advanced security, parental controls, engineer visits, and Sky Mobile integration.
Users who do not have Device Priority can add it to their plan for an extra £4 per month.
