Premium Bonds, offered by National Savings & Investment (NS&I), differ from traditional savings accounts as instead of earning interest, investors are entered into a monthly prize draw.

Prizes range from £25 to £1 million, with the unique bond numbers assigned for each £1 invested. The maximum one can invest in Premium Bonds is £50,000, with odds of winning set at 22,000 to 1 for each £1 bond. The current prize fund rate, akin to an interest rate, stands at 3.60%.

Around 22.7 million individuals hold Premium Bonds. Winners are typically notified via email or text message by NS&I, enabling them to either receive the prize in their bank account or reinvest in Premium Bonds. An online prize checker tool is available to verify if you have won, with the prize fund rate gradually decreasing in recent times.
