A spectator was escorted off the court by security personnel after approaching world No. 2, Jannik Sinner, at the Six Kings Slam held in Riyadh. Following a decisive 6-2, 6-3 win against Stefanos Tsitsipas in his initial match on Wednesday, Sinner was met by a young fan who seemed to be requesting his jacket post-game.
The fan engaged in a brief conversation with Sinner, repeatedly pointing towards his jacket. Although their discussion was not captured by microphones, the interaction appeared to leave the four-time Major winner perplexed as the boy motioned towards Sinner’s attire and then to himself.
Security quickly intervened, removing the boy from the scene so that Sinner, the world No. 2 player, could exit the court. Sinner had recently withdrawn from the Shanghai Masters due to the harsh hot and humid conditions, where he was the defending champion.
In Shanghai, the 24-year-old faced extreme weather conditions that led to several players, including himself, struggling. Sinner eventually had to retire from his third-round match due to severe cramps amid the challenging circumstances.
Upon arriving in Riyadh to defend his title at the Six Kings Slam, Sinner attributed his cramps in Shanghai to a mental aspect. Despite the setback, he expressed confidence in his mental and physical readiness for the current competition.
Sinner’s strong performance at the Six Kings Slam continued with a victory over Tsitsipas, securing a spot in the semi-finals where he is set to face Novak Djokovic. Reflecting on the upcoming match, the world No. 2 acknowledged his familiarity with Djokovic’s playing style and emphasized the importance of maintaining an aggressive approach on the court.
