SeatGeek Canada has incurred two new fines from the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets to their original face value. According to the province’s consumer protection website, the fines amount to a total of $22,500, with the first penalty of $15,000 imposed for purportedly enabling the sale of a ticket above the resale price limit. The second fine, totaling $7,500, was issued for allegedly not disclosing the full ticket price when purchased from a primary seller.
Neither the province nor SeatGeek Canada has promptly addressed inquiries regarding the specific events associated with these fines or whether the company intends to contest the penalties. In a similar instance, the province had previously fined SeatGeek Canada $25,000 in August for comparable violations.
