Ruth Langsford has shared her favorite recipe for a comforting meal perfect for chilly autumn nights. The Loose Women star emphasized the delightful aroma that fills her home when preparing this dish, which requires only six key ingredients.
In a recent Instagram post, Ruth expressed her love for the cozy atmosphere and vibrant colors of autumn. She announced her plan to cook a hearty stew or casserole to embrace the season.
The TV personality, aged 65, demonstrated the cooking process by displaying a selection of ingredients in large bowls. She began by coating diced lamb with seasoned flour and browning them in batches in a hot pan.
Once the lamb had a light brown exterior, Ruth set it aside and lightly cooked chopped leeks and carrots in the same pot. She then combined the lamb with potatoes and stock, advising against boiling the mixture but rather transitioning it to the oven after slightly increasing the heat.
Ruth’s method involved simmering the ingredients with a lamb stock pot and slow-cooking them at 170°C for 20 minutes before reducing the heat for an additional 1 hour and 45 minutes. She emphasized the importance of not cutting the pieces too small to prevent them from becoming mushy.
