A man is facing the possible loss of his eyesight after allegedly being attacked in a road rage incident. Ronnie Bushway, aged 46, was involved in the altercation with Aaron Williams, 44, who reportedly cut him off, confronted him physically, and gouged his eyes following a dispute on the road.
The confrontation took place at approximately 8:30 pm when Bushway prevented Williams from overtaking him, leading to a dangerous sequence of events. Williams aggressively tailgated Bushway, abruptly stopped his vehicle, and engaged in physical violence, including gouging Bushway’s eyes before fleeing the scene. The majority of the incident was captured on Bushway’s dashcam, showing Williams instigating the violence.
Although the eye gouging was not caught on camera, officials confirm that Williams inflicted severe injuries by forcefully pressing his thumbs into Bushway’s eye sockets, causing intense pain and potential permanent damage. Williams faces serious charges of aggravated assault and maiming, to which he has pleaded not guilty, and is currently in custody without bail.
Bushway, who has undergone two successful surgeries in an attempt to restore his vision, may require further medical procedures due to the extent of his injuries. His family has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover his medical expenses, additional surgeries, and the emotional aftermath of the traumatic incident.
Medical reports indicate the possibility of Bushway losing one or both eyes due to the severity of the injuries sustained. His father, Ronnie Bushway Sr., expressed gratitude for the support received and acknowledged the challenging road to recovery that lies ahead for his son and their family.
