“Renowned Romance Writer Carley Fortune Unveils New Novel for 2027”

Date:

Renowned romance writer Carley Fortune has revealed that her upcoming novel, “Only in Summer,” is set to hit bookshelves on May 18, 2027. This new book revisits the familiar town of Barry’s Bay, Ontario, a location featured in Fortune’s previous works “Every Summer After” and “One Golden Summer,” as well as her childhood hometown.

Fortune shared in a newsletter that she recently acquired a cottage near Barry’s Bay, fulfilling a long-standing dream since her family home by the lake was sold. The protagonist of “Only in Summer,” Eleanor Florek, also dreams of owning property in Barry’s Bay, echoing the author’s personal connection to the setting. Eleanor, known as Ellie, is the cousin of Charlie and Sam from Fortune’s earlier Barry’s Bay stories. When Ellie finally saves enough to purchase her dream property, she is surprised to find out that a neighboring house is being torn down to make way for a lavish new mansion.

While details beyond this point remain undisclosed, it appears that a compelling romance is on the horizon in this picturesque lakeside backdrop. Carley Fortune, a Toronto-based writer and former editor at various publications, has penned successful novels such as “Our Perfect Storm,” “One Golden Summer,” “Every Summer After,” “This Summer Will Be Different,” and “Meet Me at the Lake.” Notably, “Meet Me at the Lake” was a finalist on Canada Reads in 2024, a first for a romance novel on the show.

Additionally, “Every Summer After” has been adapted into the Amazon Prime Video series “Every Year After,” renewed for a second season, with plans for a Netflix Canada adaptation of “This Summer Will Be Different” into a 10-episode series.
