“Phoenix Mercury Soar to 101-69 Victory Over Toronto Tempo”

Date:

Noemie Brochart and Shay Ciezki both contributed 15 points each as the Phoenix Mercury secured a convincing 101-69 victory over the Toronto Tempo on Saturday evening. This win marked the second-largest margin of victory for Phoenix this season, following their 99-66 triumph over the Las Vegas Aces in the season opener.

In addition to Brochart and Ciezki’s strong performance, Sami Whitcomb added 14 points, while reserves Marta Suarez and Maddy Westbeld chipped in with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Lexi Held also contributed 11 points for the Mercury (14-26), who successfully ended a four-game losing streak.

Alyssa Thomas showcased her playmaking skills by dishing out 12 assists in the game, marking the 11th time this season she has recorded 10 or more assists. On the opposing side, Isabelle Harrison led the Tempo with 16 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Kiki Rice with 14 points and Laura Juskaite with 10 points. The Tempo (11-29) were looking to bounce back from a 93-73 loss to Las Vegas the night before.

Despite missing their leading scorer, Marina Mabrey, who is sidelined due to an adductor injury and has missed the last six games, the Tempo struggled to keep up with the Mercury. Phoenix took control early in the game, establishing a 21-8 lead and maintaining their dominance throughout. By the end of the first quarter, the Mercury held a 27-17 lead, which they extended to 58-35 by halftime. A strong third quarter performance further widened the gap, with the Mercury leading 88-49 at the end of the third quarter.
