Person Falls 30 Feet into Silo in Merseyside

Date:

Emergency responders rushed to an unoccupied silo in Merseyside after receiving reports of an individual falling 30 feet into it. The incident took place at Woodend Avenue, near Speke Boulevard, with paramedics attending to the scene behind Dugdale Nutrition while police were present on the second floor of the industrial unit.

A section of Speke Boulevard outside Dugdale Nutrition was cordoned off as emergency services worked to rescue the fallen person. Fire crews, equipped with harnesses, were observed heading towards the site where the operation was ongoing.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service released a statement confirming their involvement in the incident at a factory on Woodend Avenue in Liverpool. They arrived promptly after being alerted at 7:08 pm, deploying two fire engines along with the search and rescue team. Merseyside Police and the North West Ambulance Service were also on-site.

Upon arrival, responders found the individual had fallen around 30 feet into the empty silo. The search and rescue team initiated a rope system to lower a member of the NWAS Hazardous Area Response Team into the silo to assess the condition of the casualty. Gas readings indicated normal levels, with Merseyside Police managing the outer cordon. The situation is currently ongoing.
