Asda has introduced its inaugural fixed price meal deal, priced at £3.74 for a main dish, snack, and beverage. The offer is open to all customers without the need for loyalty cards and replaces the existing three for two deal at Asda Food to Go counters.
According to the supermarket, shoppers can save up to 50% by opting for the meal deal instead of purchasing items separately. The selection includes a variety of products, such as Asda’s Chicken and Bacon Sandwich and popular brands like Doritos and Coca Cola Zero.
The set price covers all items in the food to go section, with a wide range of 132 mains, 336 snacks, and 222 drinks to select from. In addition to larger Asda supermarkets, the meal deal is also accessible at all 478 Asda Express convenience stores.
Amy Wotherspoon, Asda’s Food to Go Buyer, stated, “At Asda, we believe in providing excellent value for everyone. That’s why we are introducing the new £3.74 Meal Deal, open to all customers with a diverse product range to cater to everyone’s preferences.”
Asda has disclosed that their best-selling main dish is the classic Cheese & Onion Sandwich, priced at £1.42, with sales exceeding 50,000 per week.
Comparatively, Asda’s offering is more cost-effective than Tesco, which recently raised its meal deal price from £3.60 to £3.85. The standard Tesco meal deal price without a Clubcard now stands at £4.25, up from £4.
The premium Tesco meal deal price has increased from £5 to £5.50 for Clubcard holders and from £5.50 to £6 for non-members. Sainsbury’s and Morrisons have also adjusted their meal deal prices recently.
In other Asda updates, the supermarket has announced a £180 million investment to revamp 180 in-store cafes. The enhancements will include digital ordering screens, table service, and a new menu featuring dishes like smashed avocado on toast, katsu chicken curry, and a variety of pizzas.
Customers will have the option to choose from a full 12″ pizza or individual slices in flavors like margherita, pepperoni, American sizzler, and more.
