“NBA Disputes ESPN Claims on Steve Ballmer Investigation”

Date:

The NBA is challenging assertions made in a recent ESPN article regarding its scrutiny of Los Angeles Clippers’ owner, Steve Ballmer. According to ESPN’s report on Monday, three sources claimed that the NBA did not uncover any proof indicating that Ballmer used team sponsors to compensate Kawhi Leonard covertly and evade salary cap regulations. The article suggested that the NBA is examining whether the team’s presentation of Leonard to sponsors breaches the league’s regulations against circumventing salary cap rules. NBA representative Mike Bass refuted the claims in the ESPN article, citing numerous inaccuracies. Bass mentioned that the outcomes of the NBA’s inquiry will be disclosed upon its conclusion. A potential trade involving Leonard between L.A. and the Toronto Raptors is currently on hold pending the league’s decision on possible penalties.
