NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) have revealed their intention to close down 46 mobile bank branches. These mobile branches are essentially vans or trucks that move around to different locations, offering customers an alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar banks.
These mobile banks enable customers to carry out routine banking activities like depositing money and checks, as well as basic account inquiries. The closures of the mobile bank branches operated by NatWest and RBS will be finalized by January 2026, affecting various locations as detailed below.
A spokesperson from NatWest Group, the parent company of NatWest, RBS, and Ulster Bank, emphasized the ongoing commitment to building a sustainable branch network. They highlighted that NatWest is the sole UK bank providing a cash-based mobile branch service to cater to underserved communities nationwide.
The spokesperson stated, “We continuously evaluate our network to ensure optimal customer coverage. While maintaining the same number of service routes, we will be eliminating a few stops on routes where there is redundancy with a banking hub.”
In case your local bank branch has closed and you require in-person assistance, customers can utilize any bank within the NatWest group for their everyday banking needs. For instance, NatWest clients can access services at RBS branches and vice versa. Additionally, customers can utilize Post Office facilities for cash deposits and withdrawals, balance inquiries, and check deposits.
