“Missile Attack in Ukraine Kills 10; Drone Offense Targets Moscow”

Date:

A village in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region was struck by a missile attack on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of 10 individuals, as confirmed by Ukrainian authorities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, stating that it occurred at a busy intersection in Pechenihy, surrounded by residential buildings, post office, and stores. Images shared by Zelenskyy depicted the destruction caused by the attack, including damaged buildings and vehicles, with emergency responders aiding the injured.

Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported that 17 people sustained injuries in the assault, which also caused severe damage to private buildings, a café, a post office, a store, and multiple cars. While Russia has not publicly addressed the incident, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office indicated that Russia utilized two Banderol cruise missiles in the attack.

In response, Ukraine launched a significant drone offensive targeting Moscow and its outskirts. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin disclosed that 620 drones were deployed, with Russian forces intercepting 180 of them in the Moscow region. The drones inflicted damage on various facilities, including a warehouse belonging to Russian e-commerce company Wildberries. Additionally, other regions under Russian control, such as Crimea, experienced intense drone attacks, leading to power disruptions and casualties.

Amid escalating tensions, Russia issued a warning to Britain regarding its alleged supply of drones to Ukraine for attacks on Russian territory. The Russian embassy in London cautioned of potential consequences, emphasizing that greater involvement in the conflict would result in a higher price to pay. Britain’s Defence Ministry reaffirmed its support for Ukraine, stating its commitment to providing necessary equipment for defense against Russia’s invasion. The UK had previously pledged to deliver 150,000 drones to Ukraine by the end of 2026 as part of a substantial funding package.
