A legal professional named Mark Zuckerberg is taking legal action against Facebook for repeatedly removing his page. Zuckerberg, based in Indiana, USA, has invested a significant amount in promoting his bankruptcy services on Facebook, only to have his page removed by the platform for allegedly impersonating the famous CEO.
The lawyer claims to have faced death threats and harassing phone calls due to sharing a name with Facebook’s founder. Despite spending £8,000 on advertising his law practice, Zuckerberg asserts that his account has been unjustly removed five times in the past eight years.
In an interview with WTHR, Zuckerberg expressed frustration, stating, “It’s not funny when they take my money. I’d rather not pick a fight with them, but I don’t know how to make them stop. I don’t know how else to get their attention.” The lawsuit, filed in Marion Superior Court, alleges that Meta, the parent company of Facebook, breached their contract by improperly taking down Zuckerberg’s advertising content.
Comparing the situation to buying a billboard only to have it covered up, Zuckerberg emphasized the loss of benefits despite paying for advertising space. He also disclosed receiving emails from Facebook questioning the authenticity of his name, despite providing various forms of identification to prove his identity as Mark Steven, distinct from Mark Elliot Zuckerberg.
Following the legal action, Zuckerberg’s account was initially closed in May but was later reinstated after the lawsuit was filed. Facebook acknowledged the error, stating that Zuckerberg’s account was disabled mistakenly and expressed gratitude for his patience while working to prevent similar incidents in the future.
