“Man Arrested for Threatening Canadian PM & Police”

Canada’s national police force announced on Monday that a 51-year-old individual has been apprehended for purportedly issuing death threats against Prime Minister Mark Carney. Marc-André Porlier, residing in Montreal, faces charges of making threats to cause harm or death, as per a press release from the RCMP. The alleged threats were conveyed in an email distributed to various unidentified recipients, including a senator, as per the police statement. The accused also allegedly threatened “all Canadian police officers,” as indicated in the charge document. Porlier had previously been convicted of arson and vandalism for igniting a church in Toronto in 2017, as confirmed by law enforcement to CBC News. An RCMP representative disclosed that he was under probation for those offenses. Porlier made a court appearance on Saturday, the press release noted, emphasizing that the allegations are yet to be proven in court.
