A man, identified as Brian Alan Jutson Sr, aged 47, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the violent killing of his wife using a pair of scissors. The tragic event took place in 2023, when Jutson strangled and stabbed his wife more than 30 times, driven by suspicions of her infidelity. The incident was reported to the College Station Police Department in June 2023 after a distressing 911 call from a family member who claimed that the father had murdered the stepmother. Upon arrival, emergency responders found the lifeless body of Sherry Shugart Jutson in the master bedroom.
Authorities confirmed that two children were present in the house during the incident but did not witness the brutal act. The police investigation determined that a domestic dispute had occurred between the husband and wife, leading to the fatal stabbing of the wife. Jutson fled the scene but was later apprehended with the help of the Bryan Police Department and the Department of Public Safety.
During police questioning, Jutson confessed to the crime, explaining that he had driven for seven hours without a break from West Texas to confront his wife about her alleged infidelity. He admitted to strangling and stabbing her with scissors, although he could not recall the exact number of times he stabbed her. Jutson remembered his wife’s desperate pleas for mercy during the attack, where she begged him to stop, saying, “Baby, I love you, please stop. I’m dying.”
After the gruesome murder, Jutson took a shower to wash away the blood before leaving the scene. Despite pleading guilty to the murder, additional evidence was presented during the trial’s penalty phase, including witness testimonies of the assault and messages Jutson had sent to his wife before her death. On 13 November, District Judge Kyle Hawthorne sentenced Jutson to life imprisonment for his heinous actions.
