King Charles was spotted arriving in London, possibly setting the stage for a potential reunion with his estranged son, Prince Harry. The monarch departed from RAF Northolt in West London around 3 pm today after returning to the capital from Balmoral, where he had been spending the summer. Following his arrival at the private airbase, King Charles proceeded to Clarence House.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry visited Imperial College London today, where he made a stop at the Centre for Blast Injury Studies, an institute he inaugurated 12 years ago, before embarking on another visit later in the evening, creating a potential opportunity for a meeting.
The Duke of Sussex is anticipated to attend an event related to the Invictus Games in another part of London tonight, providing a brief window for a possible encounter with his father. Harry has been in the UK this week, attending the WellChild Awards in London on Monday night and engaging in various activities in Nottingham on Tuesday.
Harry is expected to remain in the UK until at least Thursday, with hopes lingering that he might have a chance to meet with his father during this visit. Sources indicate a shared determination from both sides to facilitate a meeting. Harry, who has expressed his desire for reconciliation with his family, is reportedly willing to prioritize a meeting. A source revealed, “As Harry has previously stated, he is eager to reconnect with his family.”
Despite the eagerness for a potential meeting, both Buckingham Palace and representatives for Harry have refrained from disclosing details on when or if a meeting will occur. The last in-person meeting between father and son took place nearly 20 months ago, when the duke rushed to see his father in February 2024 upon learning of his cancer diagnosis. However, their meeting was brief, lasting just over 30 minutes before the King departed to recuperate in Sandringham.
In a May interview with the BBC, Harry disclosed that Charles had ceased communication with him due to his legal battle over security, a case he ultimately lost, expressing uncertainty about his father’s health. The Duke reportedly opted to stay at a hotel at his own expense during his UK visit after not being offered accommodations at a royal residence.
Harry has previously voiced his aspirations for reconciliation with his family, following his candid remarks in interviews with Oprah Winfrey and in their Netflix series, as well as his revealing memoir, “Spare.” Despite acknowledging potential rifts within the family, Harry emphasized his desire for reconciliation, stating that continuing to fight would serve no purpose.
Furthermore, senior aides to both the King and Harry were observed together in London this July, indicating an initial step toward establishing communication channels between the two parties.
