Kickboxing Champion and Rugby Star in Bar Brawl

Date:

A kickboxing world champion and Scotland rugby player was involved in an altercation with two bouncers outside a bar in the city center. Christianne Fahey, known for her participation in the Six Nations rugby tournament and as a professional boxer, reportedly struck one bouncer with a punch and attempted to headbutt the other, according to court proceedings. Sheriff William Wood addressed Fahey during the court session, acknowledging her sporting achievements but also highlighting her history of violent incidents.

The sheriff emphasized Fahey’s potential for success but urged her to address her behavior. He pointed out her previous convictions for violence, expressing concern over her recurring involvement in such incidents. Fahey, who was placed under social work supervision for six months, was also ordered to perform 100 hours of unpaid community work after pleading guilty to two assault charges in Perth earlier this year.

During the court hearing, prosecutor Sarah High outlined the events leading to Fahey’s arrest. Security personnel at the Bank Bar approached Fahey to ask her to leave, triggering a confrontation. Fahey allegedly punched one bouncer and attempted to headbutt the other before being restrained and subsequently arrested by the police.

In her defense, solicitor Lynsey Barber attributed Fahey’s actions on the day of the incident to a combination of intoxication and mental health issues. Fahey’s past legal troubles include a 22-month jail sentence in 2019 for assaulting her ex-girlfriend and another woman in Dundee, causing them permanent injuries.
