Noel Sullivan, a former member of the popular band Hear’Say, continues to maintain his youthful appearance and remains active in the entertainment industry even after more than twenty years since rising to fame. He is happily married to a renowned choreographer.
The band Hear’Say, which included Noel Sullivan, Myleene Klass, Suzanne Shaw, Kym Marsh, and Danny Foster, was formed on the ITV show Popstars in 2001. Their debut single, Pure and Simple, achieved chart-topping success in the UK upon its release, followed by their debut album, Popstars, which also enjoyed significant popularity.
Following the band’s breakup the following year, each member pursued individual careers. Noel, now 45, has focused on musical theatre, featuring in West End productions such as Grease and School of Rock. He has also participated in touring productions of various shows like We Will Rock You and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, with his most recent role being in But I’m a Cheerleader: The Musical.
Despite performing in theatre productions worldwide, including in Jersey and Las Vegas, Noel also made a return to music, releasing his debut album, Here I Go Again, in 2014, featuring covers of iconic songs like Queen’s I Want to Break Free. Additionally, Noel has explored acting opportunities on television, appearing in series like Ordinary Lies and making a cameo in Gavin and Stacey.
More recently, Noel has been featured in the drama miniseries Years and Years and made appearances on various shows like Heston’s Marvellous Menu: Back to the Noughties, Call the Midwife, and Doctors. His latest role involved portraying Prince Charles in the musical The Diana Mixtape.
Away from the spotlight, Noel publicly came out as gay in 2017 when he announced his marriage to choreographer James Bennett on Instagram. The couple frequently shares glimpses of their life together on social media, including a recent post showcasing their vacation on the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia.
In a candid social media post, Noel revealed his struggles with depression during the period when he couldn’t openly express his identity. He emphasized the importance of self-acceptance and gratitude for the support he received from family and colleagues in the entertainment industry.
Noel and James have undertaken a renovation project on a 16th-century property in France, purchased in 2020. James, a choreographer and creative director, has worked on popular shows like Strictly Come Dancing and Britain’s Got Talent, collaborating with renowned figures such as Oti Mabuse.
The duo also mentored contestant Jowita Przystał, now a professional dancer on Strictly, and have enjoyed visits from friends like Faye Tozer and Michael Smith, showcasing a strong bond with former colleagues and friends from the entertainment industry.
