Hair hanging circus act goes awry in Brazil

Date:

A shocking incident unfolded at Circo Robatiny in Miracema, Brazil, when acrobat Aliane Dias plummeted to the ground during a hair hanging act. The audience gasped as Dias crashed just moments into her performance, prompting paramedics to rush to her aid. She was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment.

The circus later confirmed that the fall was a result of human error rather than equipment failure. Dias, who was suspended by her braided hair from a steel cable, had tied it differently than usual, causing it to come undone. The circus stated they are awaiting her full recovery to investigate further.

Hair hanging stunts involve performers being suspended by tightly braided hair attached to a metal ring. Despite the mishap, the circus troupe proceeded with their scheduled show the next evening.

This incident echoes a similar one from last year when a circus performer fell during an aerial act in Joinville, Brazil. The performer lost her grip while twirling on an aerial hoop, falling to the stage below. She was swiftly taken to the hospital and reported to be in stable condition.

Both incidents serve as reminders of the risks performers take in gravity-defying acts, highlighting the importance of proper safety protocols and attention to detail in such performances.
