Zola, aged 57, was spotted by keen-eyed fans in the front row of a full team photograph ahead of the Ryder Cup, which kicks off in New York on Friday. It has been revealed that the renowned Italian footballer will assist Europe’s vice-captain by driving Molinari around the course.
As confirmed by Golf Digest, Zola will be behind the wheel for Molinari, who shares a bond with Zola from their time at West Ham. Molinari, a West Ham enthusiast since his move to England in 2009, will have Zola by his side during the Ryder Cup event.
Zola, known for his successful football career, has also dabbled in golf, participating in various pro-ams on the DP World Tour. Molinari, serving as deputy to Team Europe’s captain Luke Donald, expressed his admiration for Donald’s leadership qualities and looks forward to contributing to the team’s success at Bethpage.
