“German Woman Linked to Madeleine McCann Case Expresses Frustration”

Date:

A woman allegedly connected to the investigation into the disappearance of British toddler Madeleine McCann has reportedly shown frustration towards the authorities. The German woman, who was romantically involved with a British man who has since passed away, had her residence in Praia de Luz searched twice by police probing the possibility of a hit-and-run incident involving Madeleine. Reports suggest she became agitated when requested to clear her freezer.

During questioning by the police, she retorted, “Do you think I’ve chopped her into small pieces and plan to eat her?” Portuguese and British law enforcement explored this woman’s involvement seven years ago. They focused on a scenario suggesting that Madeleine, at three years old, may have woken up, left her family’s apartment through an unlocked door, and been involved in a hit-and-run accident.

Recently, a new theory emerged in the media regarding Madeleine’s case, which was reported by the Mirror back in June. The theory involved German prosecutors declining to investigate a couple suspected of striking Madeleine in a drunk driving incident. Portuguese authorities sought an inquiry into a British man and his German wife following a tip-off from the man’s sister based in the UK.

The German woman, who has now been located, expressed surprise at being a subject of suspicion, according to a report by Sky News. She recalled working at a restaurant near Praia da Luz beach and returning home after the time Madeleine was discovered missing. She mentioned that her British partner, a chef at the Ocean Club where the McCanns dined, was home when she arrived.

The woman clarified that their apartment, like many others in the area, was searched by Portuguese police in the days following Madeleine’s disappearance. Additionally, reports from the previous summer indicated that the British man’s sister had alerted the police in 2018, triggering further investigations.

Despite efforts to obtain a confession, German prosecutors were denied permission to conduct a covert operation involving an undercover agent befriending the woman. The focus remained on suspect Christian Brueckner, dismissing other leads. The German woman revealed that German authorities contacted her over a decade later to inquire about Brueckner’s presence near the McCanns’ residence.

Kate McCann, Madeleine’s mother, has consistently rejected the notion that her daughter left the apartment on her own. In her book “Madeleine,” Kate wrote about the improbability of a three-year-old being able to navigate the complex route out of the apartment independently.
