A toddler fell down an elevator shaft in Voronezh, Russia, after leaning on a faulty door while his parents watched in horror. The boy’s father quickly jumped in to prevent the elevator from descending and potentially causing harm. Fortunately, the child avoided serious injury as he fell 6ft without hitting metal spikes at the shaft’s base.
Using a flashlight, the mother helped locate the boy, and neighbors intervened by holding the lift on the third floor to prevent further descent. The father managed to retrieve the child through the damaged door, ensuring his safety. Despite a few bruises, the toddler escaped major harm.
Expressing gratitude for the fortunate outcome, the father highlighted the concerning condition of the building’s lifts, which have been unreliable since their installation a year ago. The incident prompted the Russian Investigative Committee to launch a criminal investigation into the matter.
The child, now back home and calm, was lucky to escape serious harm from the ordeal. The father emphasized the need for better maintenance of the lifts, stating that such malfunctions should not occur in a new building.
