Family Seeks Justice for Grandfather’s Misdiagnosis Tragedy

Date:

A grandfather passed away after his symptoms were mistaken for hemorrhoids, leaving his family to witness his decline. James Beasley visited his GP in March 2020 with complaints of rectal bleeding but received no physical examination. When he returned in December with additional symptoms, including constipation and abdominal pain, a blood test was conducted, but signs of cancer were overlooked.

It wasn’t until August 2021 that James sought help at a hospital and was finally diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer in October. Sadly, he succumbed to the illness in February 2023, leaving behind his wife and two daughters.

His daughter, Jane Beasley, expressed shock at the delayed diagnosis, stating that her father had been suffering from bowel issues for a significant period. The family mourned the loss of their beloved patriarch, describing him as a caring individual who always prioritized others’ well-being over his own.

Despite undergoing palliative chemotherapy and medical interventions, James’ condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to his passing in February 2023. Following his death, his family sought legal action and secured a settlement after investigations revealed lapses in his medical care.

The family’s lawyer, Emily Mansfield, emphasized the importance of early detection of bowel cancer and hoped that sharing James’ story would raise awareness about the disease. The family, devastated by their loss, aimed to prevent similar situations by highlighting the significance of timely medical attention in combating such illnesses.
