Jeffrey Epstein reportedly claimed to have provided advice to Russian government officials on handling Donald Trump before the US President’s crucial meeting with Vladimir Putin. This revelation was disclosed through a collection of 23,000 documents submitted to the US House Oversight Committee from Epstein’s estate after his death.
The documents highlighted Epstein’s ongoing efforts to exert influence on an international scale, including his communication with Thorbjørn Jagland, the former Prime Minister of Norway and Secretary General of the Council of Europe at the time. In a 2018 email exchange with Jagland, Epstein hinted at facilitating discussions between Russian officials and himself, referencing the late Russian UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin.
Churkin, who had passed away a year prior, was acknowledged by Epstein for understanding Trump following their conversations. Epstein emphasized the simplicity of Trump’s needs for recognition in his interactions with foreign counterparts. This correspondence occurred just before Trump’s summit with Putin in Helsinki.
Following the summit, Epstein criticized Trump’s performance to former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, expressing disappointment in Trump’s conduct. Epstein suggested that Trump lacked insight into the symbolic implications of his actions during the summit.
