“Deported Migrant Attempts Re-Entry, Expelled Again”

Date:

A man who returned to the UK in a small boat after being deported has been deported once again.

The Home Office has verified that the migrant, who was apprehended on both occasions he entered Britain, was repatriated on a flight today. Although he was initially expelled on September 19, he managed to re-enter the country almost a month later on October 18.

Under the new ‘one in one out’ agreement established between the UK and France during the summer, a total of 94 individuals have been sent back to France. The Government criticized the man for futilely attempting to enter the UK. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood emphasized that any individual seeking to return to the UK following deportation under the UK-France agreement is wasting their resources.

Mahmood stated, “This person was identified through biometrics and promptly detained. His case was expedited, resulting in his deportation once again. My stance is firm: if you try to re-enter the UK, you will be repatriated. I am committed to enhancing the removal of illegal migrants and fortifying our borders.”

Last month, the man disclosed to The Guardian: “If I had believed that France was safe for me, I would not have returned to the UK.” He recounted being taken to a shelter in Paris, expressing fear for his safety. He detailed his harrowing experience with human traffickers in France before crossing into the UK.

As per a recent agreement established in July, individuals arriving in the UK via small boats can be detained and sent back to France. In return, an equal number of asylum seekers with valid claims are sent back to France.

The Government anticipates that this agreement will deter individuals from resorting to traffickers and risking their lives. Officials aim to increase the number of deportations under this arrangement.
