David Malukas set the pace during practice at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy event in Markham. Malukas clocked a time of 1:14.194 in the second practice session of the day, with qualifying scheduled for later in the evening. Following closely behind was Alex Palou with a time of 1:14.560, and Dennis Hauger secured the third-best time at 1:14.592 on the Markham downtown road course.
The first day of track sessions had to be canceled by organizers due to the incomplete state of the course and pending safety inspections. Markham is hosting the race for the first time this year, having relocated from Toronto’s Exhibition Place, where it had been held since its inception in 1986.
In the morning’s initial practice session, Palou had the fastest lap time, completing the circuit in 1:14.9915.
