In a surprising development involving Ryan Thomas and the pigeon he believes embodies his late father, the actor has opted to bring the bird indoors. The Coronation Street star took to Instagram to inform his followers about his decision to shelter Dougie James the pigeon from the severe thunderstorms affecting the country.
Ryan has been providing regular updates on the situation with the bird, whom he perceives as a reincarnation of his deceased father from 2020. Now, the 41-year-old has expressed his intention to keep the bird indoors during inclement weather conditions.
Through his Instagram Story, Ryan shared a video of the pigeon in a cage alongside a bowl of food. He wrote: “I’ve never seen him lying down. I’ll release him for a flight in the morning as I don’t want him outside in this weather.”
This latest development follows fans’ astonishment at Ryan’s belief. Recently, he was emotional on Instagram while cradling the pigeon, claiming a newfound bond with the bird and asserting his conviction that it embodies the spirit of his late father, a renowned soul singer.
Despite his father’s passing in 2020, the pigeon’s frequent visits to his garden have reinforced Ryan’s belief that it is his father reincarnated.
Ryan later stated that the bird seemed to be trying to communicate with him and continued to share moments with his feathered companion. Earlier in the week, while sitting in his garden with a cup of tea and wearing a beanie hat and sunglasses, Ryan mentioned to fans that Dougie had disappeared, expressing concern.
Reflecting on the situation, Ryan said, “Every morning, Dougie was in the garden. Every evening, Dougie was in the garden. I’ve come down this morning, and Dougie’s not there. I’m thinking to myself, ‘He’s not coming back, it’s over.'”
After a moment of reflection, Ryan humorously added, “Every morning, I feel like ‘that’s it, he’s going to leave’ and then…” He then showed Dougie happily perched on a TV aerial, exclaiming, “You’ve no idea how happy this makes me. Go on, Dougie!”
Despite his consistent updates, Ryan has questioned his followers on whether they think he is “losing the plot,” acknowledging his friend’s concerns.
“My mate said: ‘Looking from the outside in, it looks like you’ve lost the plot a bit.’ Whether it’s a yes or no, I don’t care, but do you think I’ve lost the plot?”
